MUNCIE, Ind. (NewsLink) — The citizens of Muncie now have a new way to report potholes and street damage.
"I'm worried about my tires and if they're going to pop or not,” said Ball State student Andrew Thomas.
Muncie potholes are a frequent topic of discussion. After one pothole gets fixed, there always seems to be another that needs to be repaired.
"I feel like there are a lot, and they can do something to fix them,” Thomas said.
Then, the city did.
The city’s engineer and street superintendent, Brian Stephen-Hotopp, said it’s a way to keep reports organized.
"What's changed, I think, is the ease of which we're trying to make reporting the problems,” Stephen-Hotopp said.
So, once you come across a pothole, all you have to do is pull out your phone and report it on its website.
When you get to the website, you can submit a street problem, see the problems already reported, and view a map of all the potholes reported in the last 30 days.
"Some of the things we're trying to address are streetlight outages,” Stephen-Hotopp said.
“Even though streetlights are not owned by the city, the reports can help the utility company know where they are so they can be replaced,” said Stephen-Hotopp.
And after you report the pothole or street damage, you can track its status.
