Coinciding with the events at Ball State’s 2019 Homecoming is a live improv show by cast members of an Emmy-nominated TV show where, as the show’s former host used to put it, “everything is made up, and the points don’t matter.”

As part of the “Whose Live Anyway” improv tour, Joel Murray, Jeff Davis, Ryan Stiles and Greg Proops from the TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?,” alongside special guests Dave Foley and the show’s former host Drew Carey, will put on a two-hour show Saturday at Emens Auditorium with “hilarious improvised comedy and song all based on audience suggestions,” according to Ball State’s website.

Being on tour since 1999, Proops said the performers have become funnier with more practice. He said the cast is looking forward to coming to Emens.

“We always look forward to going to Indiana,” Proops said. “Indianapolis is a really big place for us. We’ve had some of our best shows [there].”

Proops said in a phone interview, “The show in Muncie is a real special one because we don’t usually do a six-man show ... and having Drew and Dave, it will be a wild one.”

He said the live show will be more interactive than the TV show because the audience will be able to go up on stage and perform bits with the comedians.

Kristi Chambers, assistant director of marketing and communications at Emens, said she grew up watching “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and is looking forward to the show.

“I am always proud that Emens is able to host performances of such national relevance,” Chambers said, “presenting our students and surrounding community with the opportunity to see these artists live and local.”

Through working with the cast and guests of "Whose Line is it Anyway?," Proops said he has improved his own comedy and has become “a better improvising singer.”

Musical director Bob Derkach will accompany the cast to Emens. Proops said there will be plenty of singing in the show.

Junior Alex Dixon, a member of the Ball State improv comedy group ABSO, plans to watch “Whose Live Anyway” at Emens. He said he has watched the improv-based TV show since he was a kid.

“I have not seen ‘Whose Live Anyway’ before, so I’m curious to see how it compare[s] to the TV show,” Dixon said. “I’m most excited to see Ryan Stiles and Drew Carey.”

Tickets for the show range from $35.50 to $65.50 depending on the location of the seats, with Ball State students getting a discount on the tickets through Oct. 11 priced at $20, and can be bought at Emens box office.
