The first formal charges in the May 18 house party shooting case were filed Friday against VaShaun Harnett, 19,  by the Delaware County prosecutor's office. Harnett is being charged with attempted murder against Tyler Childers, 20. Childers was one of the three stated to be in critical condition and was transported to Methodist in Indianapolis by air.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor Zach Craig said any decisions on additional charges that might be filed will occur after ballistic test results are returned.

After ballistic test results are received, Craig said, “we will take a look at that and make a determination if other charges are appropriate.”

17-year-old Daymarr Kennedy died from his injuries Monday at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Spelmon Allen, 19, was transported to the Indianapolis hospital earlier this week and is still in critical condition, according to Muncie law enforcement.

Four other people were shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
