Ball State Men’s Golf finished sixth out of 11 teams at the 36-hole Chatham Hills Collegiate in Westfield, Indiana, which took place this past Sunday and Monday.
On Sunday, the Cardinals were led by redshirt sophomore Keegan Bronnenberg, finishing with an overall score of 143 (-1). Bronnenberg, who has enjoyed a successful first season with the Cardinals, is pleased with his results.
“The tournament went well,” Bronnenberg said. “I definitely had some putting woes but we had a good second round and that was definitely something to build off of.”
In addition to Bronnenberg, sophomore Jack Cunningham also had a solid outing Sunday, placing in a tie for 25 at even par. The Cardinals would finish day one in seventh with an overall score of 576.
Monday’s action saw very similar results to Sunday. Bronnenberg would again lead the way individually, finishing in a tie for 18. The Cardinals came very close to a top five finish, but were beat by Eastern Michigan by one shot, settling for sixth place and a final score of 868 (+4).
“We had a lot of pretty good rounds individually over both days, but collectively we had a little bit of trouble putting all of them together,” head coach Mike Fleck said. “We did have multiple players under par so we were close but not close enough.”
The Cardinals will conclude the fall portion of their regular season on Monday, Oct. 22 at the Muskies Classic in Cincinnati, Ohio.
