Ball State women's golf finished in last place at the Lady Boilermaker after playing 36 holes on Saturday and Sunday.

The leading force for the Cardinals was freshman Liz Kim, who was in the top five for the tournament after the first round of play concluded on Saturday morning with a score of 73. Kim's second round score of 78 put her seven over par, to put her in a tie for 13th place going into the final round on Sunday, where she finished the tournament in 13th.

“[Kim] played very solid. She put together a few good rounds,” head coach Katherine Mowat said. “It was a great show this weekend and it built up some nice momentum for her going into conference.”

Ball State scored 317 and 313 in the first two rounds on Saturday. The Cardinals (+54) are sixth in the six-team field that features three of the top 75 teams in the country.

Also contributing to the Cardinals performance through day one was sophomore Manon Tounalom (+16), freshman Emily Knouff (+16), junior Sydney Anderson (+18), freshman Holly Anderson (+20) and senior Morgan Nadaline (+25).

Ball State was unable to secure a top spot on day two of play. Kim and Tounalom led the team again, each finishing six over par on the day. Ball State's Kim (+13), Tounalom (+22), Knouff (+26), S. Anderson (+28), H. Anderson (+29) and Nadaline (+36) contributed to Ball State's total score of 949.

After the first day of play, Texas Tech (+2) and Purdue (+13) led the pack. The final round on Sunday did not bring much change, as Texas Tech (+8) and Purdue (+16) led the field in the Lady Boilermaker.

“The conditions were tough and it was very cold,” Mowat said. “The weather got better as we went on and we are pretty exhausted. We are please we got it all in and we certainly fought through it.”

This weekend served as Ball State's last chance to prepare itself and lower its scores before traveling to Illinois to compete in the Mid-American Conference Championship.

“We are ready to break out as a team and we are anxious for next weekend,” Mowat said. “This could very well be a conference championship at this point.”

The Cardinals will compete against top-conference rivals at the MAC Championship in Naperville, Illinois, on April 20-22.
