Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is here, and it can either be very stressful or very enjoyable depending on how you spend it.

Regardless of whether you are in a relationship, Valentine’s Day can be a fun holiday for everyone.

Here are nine tips to help you get through Feb. 14, without being in the single pringle dumps:

1. Try your hand at dating apps

If you’re crunching for time in order to find a significant other, apps like Tinder or Bumble can be helpful if you’re lucky enough to get that elusive mutual right swipe.

2. Use the in-person approach

Dating apps not for you? Try the old-fashioned method of asking someone to go on a date with you in person. This way you will have a definitive answer immediately, instead of them replying a day too late.

3. Have a night out on the town together

So you’re officially going out on a date, congratulations. What better way to spend it than exploring Muncie’s selection of restaurants like Vera Mae's Bistro or Puerto Vallarta Restaurant.

4. Have a cliché dinner and a movie night

On a tight budget? Fear not, as the classic homemade dinner followed by a cheesy romance movie never goes out of style.

5. Take a ballroom class

Looking for something more fun and adventurous? Cardinal Ballroom is hosting a “BAE Ballroom Lesson” from 7-9 p.m. in the Jo Ann Gora Student Recreation and Wellness Center, room 200D. Don't worry about dinner because there will be food, games and prizes.

6. Go out and volunteer

Don’t have a significant other? Spend the day helping others at places like Second Harvest Food Bank, YWCA or the Boys & Girls Club of Muncie.

7. Treat your parents

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for college students and teenagers. Do something nice for your parents on Valentine’s Day like sending them a card, candy or a quick phone call. They’ll have a renewed love for each other and you as well.

8. Buy candy on Feb. 15

Candy prices always skyrocket in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day and plummet thanks to sales in the days after. You’re welcome.

9. Have a treat yourself day

If none of the previous tips do any good, just spend the day for yourself. Valentine’s Day is a holiday about love, and the most important thing you can do is love yourself. So grab some junk food, your laptop and your favorite binge-worthy series.
