University sends out second sexual assault advisory within a month

On Tuesday evening, Ball State University sent students a public safety advisory about an on-campus sexual assault.

The assault occurred in a residence hall and the suspect is known by the victim, according to the advisory.

This is now the sixth sexual assault notice sent out since the beginning of the semester and the second notice sent out in October.

On Oct. 1, the university sent a report notifying students about an on-campus sexual assault in a residence hall. The victim did not request an investigation.

These six incidents come as the university is under federal investigation for the alleged the mishandling of a sexual assault that occurred during the last academic year.

According to the Clery Act, the address in which the assault occurred is withheld in order to protect the victim. Additionally, an investigation cannot take place unless the victim requests it.

This story will be updated.
