On Friday, Phi Mu sorority and Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity are hosting their annual Bonnamu Battle of the Bands event from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Lafollette Fields. Nine bands will perform this year.

This will be the first year performers have the chance to win a recording session.

"We got an email from a guy who professionally records, so whoever wins will get to professionally record their music for an album," co-chair of philanthropy for Phi Mu Jacy Vuckovich said. "This will also be the first year where Bonnamu will be hosted outside at the Lafollette fields."

Ivan Lomeli, sentinel/risk chair for Phi Sigma Kappa, explained the money raised from the event would go to the fraternity's and sorority's respective charities.

"This is the first year that Phi Sigma Kappa will be paired with Phi Mu," Lomeli said. "Our philanthropy is the Polar Plunge, where all the proceeds go to the Special Olympics, so all of the money that we raise will go towards Special Olympics and the money that Phi Mu raises will go towards Riley Children's Hospital."

The goal for Phi Mu and Phi Sigma Kappa is to raise at least $5,000 for Riley's Children's Hospital and the Special Olympics.
