The Ball State and Muncie communities are coming together to help victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Here are a few ways you can help:

  • All Muncie fire departments and City Hall are accepting donations to support the victims of Harvey.
  • The Muncie Animal Shelter will be collecting donations to support animals impacted by Harvey.
  • Anya Berg, academic adviser for telecommunications, will be accepting donations to send with Secret Families founder, Al Holdren, when he goes to Houston Wednesday. Holdren is asking for monetary donations and homemade cookies, two per bag. All donations can be dropped off to Berg's office in Ball Communications 201.
  • Ball State's Black Student Association will be at the Scramble Light Tuesday and in the Atrium Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. accepting donations.
  • Ball State's Residence Hall Association and Student Government Association will be hosting "Hearts for Houston" from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center.

"RHA and student government are pairing together to basically raise awareness and also help gather donations for Houston," SGA president Greg Carbó  said. "We're also wanting to support any other organization on campus that is having anything. The beautiful thing is that, we've seen it's a school effort and we're all just gonna be able to work together to do that."

Carbo said the organizations will be "directing students to outlets for donations through support and information."

An earlier version of this story reported that SGA and RHA will be hosting "Warm Hearts for Houston" inside Bracken Library. The event has been renamed and relocated, the current story reflects those changes.
