Eicher wins conference Defensive Player of the Week honors

Ball State field hockey junior midfielder Anya Eicher took home the Mid-American Conference's Defensive Player of the Week honors on Tuesday afternoon.

The Australian native scored a goal and added two assists in Ball State's weekend victories over St. Louis and Ohio. Her goal against the Bobcats came from the penalty spot in the second half.

The Cardinals outshot its opponents 19-10 over the weekend, including a 13-6 advantage in shots-on-goal. Ball State allowed just a single goal in both games.

Ball State defeated St. Louis 5-0 last Friday afternoon and beat Ohio 4-1 on Sunday. 

The Cardinals are headed to Oxford, Ohio next for games against Boston University at 11 a.m. Saturday and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell on Sunday at Noon.
