by Emily Reuben Zack Snyder, director of DC’s Justice League, has announced that he and his wife Deborah Snyder, a producer for the film, will both be stepping away from work to spend time with their family after it was revealed that their 20-year-old daughter, Autumn Snyder, had committed suicide in March. After keeping details of the event private, Snyder felt the need to clear the air about why he was leaving Justice League as it enters post production. Snyder and Warner Bros. Pictures president Toby Emmerich have found a suitable replacement director in Joss Whedon, director of Marvel’s Avengers. In a statement, Emmerich assured the public:
“The directing is minimal and it has to adhere to the style and tone and the template that Zack set… We’re not introducing any new characters. It’s the same characters in some new scenes. He’s handing the baton to Joss, but the course has really been set by Zack. I still believe that despite this tragedy, we’ll still end up with a great movie.”Autumn Snyder was attending Sarah Lawrence College in New York. She had written a first person Science Fiction novel that dealt with themes of loneliness. The Snyders said they would like to see the novel published and sold to generate money for charity.
