The 82nd Annual Student Art Show, known to be full of unique and colorful pieces of artwork from students across campus, will be running today until March 15. Students and faculty will have the chance to view artwork done by students in the past year.

Admission is free but donations are accepted.

"The art show allows the entire campus and community to see the wealth of talent found among them by their peers," said Arne Flaten, School of Art director.

The opening reception of the show is Feb. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the School of Art Atrium Gallery, located in Art and Journalism Building Room 101.

The gallery is open 9 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

This art show will give students the chance to have their work shown in a professional setting and even judged by a professional juror.

The juror will be Caleb Weintraub, associate professor of painting and area head painting at Indiana University.

"I'm looking forward to seeing the school," he said. "Ball State University has a wonderful art department."

Works included in the show range from animation and ceramics to drawing, metals and printmaking.

Once chosen as a qualifying work, students are then eligible to receive awards and scholarships in support of their work.
