RECAP: Ball State gymnastics upsets No. 25 North Carolina State

For the second week in a row, Ball State gymnastics upset a ranked team.

The Cardinals won its tri-meet against No. 25 NC State and William & Mary Jan. 20, one week after beating then-No. 17 Northern Illinois. They scored 194.950 points, just .1 more than second-place NC State. William & Mary scored 192.275.

Ball State had its highest score on the vault with a team score of 49.000. Sophomore Sydney Finke tied for first in the event with a score of 9.850. Senior Sarah Ebeyer and junior Jordyn Penny tied for third with a score of 9.825.

Other notable performances of the night included a second-place tie in the floor event by senior Kayla Beckler with a score of 9.800, a third-place tie in the uneven parallel bars by Penny and sophomore Kaitlyn Menzione with a score of 9.800, a second-place tie in the balance beam by Penny with a score of 9.800, and a second-place finish by Menzione in the overall all-around event with a score of 38.97. 

The Cardinals will look for their third-straight upset as they take on No. 9 Kentucky at home Jan. 29.
