Anderson native named vice president for marketing and communications

Interim president Terry King has named Anderson native Kathy Wolf as vice president for marketing and communications at Ball State.

According to a university press release, Wolf — who has spent more than 20 years working in marketing and communications within the nonprofit and cooperate sectors — previously led projects at the University of Cincinnati and at brands housed under Procter & Gamble Professional. She will begin her new position Jan. 9.

“I’m thrilled and honored to be part of the Ball State University family,” Wolf said in the press release. “This is a university that’s on the move, and I look forward to being part of that momentum.”

At the University of Cincinnati, Wolf led a rebranding effort and helped lead the university’s Proudly Cincinnati campaign, an eight-year, billion-dollar fundraising and engagement effort. Only 1 percent of all American colleges and universities have ever successfully achieved a $1 billion campaign, according to UC Magazine.

“The Ball State that I knew growing up was always one that was well-respected and admired, but the Ball State that exists today is bigger, better and so very dynamic," Wolf said. "There’s a greatness and graciousness that one encounters across campus — in the people and the programs. It’s time to shout from the rooftops that some of the best and brightest students, faculty and staff are right here at Ball State. I’m looking forward to partnering with all of the university’s key stakeholders, internally and externally, to continue to build on their successes, showcase what they do and tell the Ball State story.”

The vice president position has been vacant since Tom Taylor left at the end of 2015. Wolf will oversee the university's media and marketing strategies and will report to King and the board of trustees.

“We were fortunate to have many qualified candidates, but [Wolf]'s expertise and background made her a standout in a robust field,” King said in the press release. “We’re eager to have [Wolf] join us and look forward to her leading a talented staff that will help shape the future of the university.”
