Right-handed closer BJ Butler earned the MAC West Division Pitcher of the Week award after winning two games in relief appearances against Central Michigan this weekend. He struck out six batters, allowed four hits and walked none in five innings on the mound in two games.

Butler is also the ninth Cardinal to win either player or pitcher of the week so far this year.

Head coach Rich Maloney said the number of players that have won the awards shows the depth of the Cardinals' roster.

"They're different individuals, which is great," he said. "That means so many different guys add value to your ball club."

Butler is now 3-0 on the season with seven saves and a 2.64 ERA. He has also struck out 26 and walked seven in 30.2 innings on the mound.

Ball State will play next April 19 against Purdue in West Lafayette at 6 p.m.
