The fallen trees were at the following locations:
South side of Woodworth
Emens Dock
Duck Pond (2)
Heavy winds on April 2 caused four trees on campus to blow over or split, but cleanup is expected to be completed in the next day or so.
Christy Woods also lost a couple of trees, but they did not come out of the woods.
Mike Planton, associate director for landscape and environmental management, said they received calls while the storm was happening, but by the time his crew got the call to assess the damage, it was too dark outside to work safely. The crew cut up trees on April 3 where pedestrians walk, and the affected trees by the Duck Pond will be taken care of.
“Several of the trees that got damaged probably had damage to them already and we just didn’t know it,” Planton said. “We’ve had more severe wind damage than this; … it’s not a significant event as far as we were concerned.”
Planton said since most of the cleanup will be done on regular time, the total cost should be less than $1,000.
