Ball State men's volleyball beats IPFW 3-1, moves atop MIVA

After losing the first set 25-21, Ball State came back to win the following three (25-19, 25-23, 25-19). 

Junior outside attacker Brendan Surane led the Cardinals' offensive attack with 13 kills on his 29 attempts on the night. Senior setter Hiago Garchet led with 33 of the team's 38 assists along with his four kills and sophomore middle attacker Matt Walsh finished with the most blocks of either team with nine block assists on the night. 

This win pushes Ball State to a 16-5 overall record along with its 9-1 MIVA record, which ties Ohio State for first place in the conference.

Since the Cardinals beat the Buckeyes on the road earlier this season, Ball State currently holds the tiebreaker for first place in the conference. 

The Cardinals' next match will be at 2 p.m. on March 20 at Worthen Arena. Ball State plays host to the University of California Irvine (7-13, 5-11 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation), in its last non-conference game of the season.
