After a record-breaking season for senior Ball State guard Nathalie Fontaine, the Mid-American Conference named her the Player of the Year.

Fontaine broke Ball State's all-time scoring record against Northern Illinois with 2,092 career points.

She also led the MAC in free throws made (168) and was second in the conference with both 21.0 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game.

Only one other player in the NCAA — Oklahoma State's Brittney Martin — averaged more than 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Fontaine's 18 double-doubles this year were tied for the ninth-highest total in the NCAA. She also had the 19th most points per game and 23rd most rebounds per game and was the only player to finish inside the top 25 in both categories.

On Dec. 21, 2015, against Evansville, she also set the Cardinals' single-game scoring record with 43 points.

Aside from the two scoring records, Fontaine also holds the Ball State records for games started (127), minutes played (4,248) and free throws made (527).

She is also second in Cardinal history with 127 games played and 785 career field goals made, third in school history with 955 rebounds and sixth for blocked shots (68).

Fontaine and the 3-seed Cardinals will play 6-seed Eastern Michigan in the MAC tournament March 9 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game between 2-seed Central Michigan and 7-seed Western Michigan.

Tip-off will be at approximately 7:30 p.m.
