DWNTWN’s 2016 Muncie Gras did not result in any arrests by the Ball State University Police Department.

However, the Muncie Police Department did arrest two Ball State students, both in incidents that involved alcohol during the March 19-20 annual event in downtown Muncie.

Trevor Richard Wirick, 22, was arrested for driving while intoxicated late on March 19.

Andie Dominique Higgins, 22, was taken into custody early March 20 for resisting law enforcement.

It's unclear if the two Ball State students were drinking at Muncie Gras.

The Muncie Redevelopment Commission hires MPD to provide security for the event each year, and MPD police Sgt. Mike Engle said despite a couple fights, this year’s crowd seemed to be calmer than in previous years.

Indiana State Excise Police were present along Walnut Street in downtown Muncie during the festivities to monitor fake IDs and underage drinking.
