Zombie MMO 'H1Z1' is splitting into two games, coming to consoles

Daybreak Game Company has announced that its zombie survival MMO, H1Z1, will soon be undergoing major business model changes. The game will be split into two separate titles: H1Z1: King of the Hill and H1Z1: Just Survive. King of the Hill will include the hardcore survival gameplay of the original release, while the latter will simply focus on the player versus player battles. Both titles will eventually be available for purchase for $19.99 each through Early Access.

The games will be released through Steam Early Access on February 17. They will make their way to consoles as well, with H1Z1: King of the Hill making its console debut first. There is currently no specified release date for when H1Z1: Just Survive will leave Early Access and come to consoles.

Current owners of the original H1Z1 on Steam will get both titles for free when the transition happens on February 17. PC Players can also save money by purchasing the original game before the new titles drop later this month, but it looks like console players will be out of luck.
