After the resignation of former President Paul W. Ferguson, the university suspended its search for a new vice president of strategic communications.

Susan Balcom Walton, who currently is the vice president for university and public affairs at the University of North Dakota, was the first candidate to make it to a finalist spot for the position, university spokesperson Joan Todd said. Walton came to campus for an open forum on Jan. 14.

Julie Hopwood is the interim for the position right now, as well as the senior adviser to the president.

Todd said there is no further information at this time and would not say why the search was canceled.

There are a lot of changes going on in university administration, aside from the open position of university president.

The university is looking to find a new president, and for now, Terry King is functioning as the acting president. There are also two open positions on the Board of Trustees after two members resigned.

The Miller College of Business is hosting a candidate public forum for a potential new dean, Jennifer Bott, at 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 22. The College of Architecture and Planning also currently has an interim dean.
