The associate dean of students and deputy Title IX director at Indiana University, Jason Casares, has been put on paid administrative leave after accusations of sexual assault, according to the Indiana Daily Student.
IU released this statement on Feb. 6:
"The university found out about this [Feb. 3] when the accuser’s letter to her fellow members of the Association for Student Conduct Administration became public. He has been placed on paid administrative leave by the university while we investigate the claims made against him."
Casares also resigned from his position as president-elect of the Association for Student Conduct Administration following the allegations; however, he remains a member of the organization.

Title IX directors are the people at universities who handle sexual assault cases, and because of that, the university will be reviewing all hearings Casares handled, IDS reported.
Jill L. Creighton, assistant director for global community standards at New York University, said she filed a criminal complaint after Casares allegedly assaulted her at a conference in December.
Creighton said in a post on Twitter that she asked ASCA to impeach Casares due to her own safety concerns.
"When [Casares] resigned, I was shocked to learn that he was still planning to attend the conference, and was still planning to present his sessions on Title IX, though several of his co-presenters have backed out of co-presenting with him," Creighton said in her tweet. "He is under criminal investigation for a sex offense, and ASCA is still allowing him to present. I needed a safe space, and to be able to attend this conference free of the hostile environment that his presence creates for me. ASCA has failed to protect me."
Creighton filed a complaint with ASCA in December, but after an investigation, it was concluded there wasn't enough evidence to substantiate Creighton's claim, according to a press release.
Casares has worked at IU since 2011, and he has previously worked in multicultural affairs at Ball State. He is also a Ball State graduate, with Bachelor's degrees in criminal justice and sociology and two Master's degrees in sociology and student affairs administration.
