Becoming the new league in racing isn’t the only thing that drones have going for them in the land of opportunity. The Federal Aviation Administration has organized a group with members from both private sectors (companies such as Google and Amazon) and public sectors (i.e. The FAA itself) to create a report with recommendations to allow drones to safely fly above people.
The FFA Administrator Michael Huerta said “Based on the comments about a ‘micro’ classification submitted as part of the small UAS proposed rule, the FAA will pursue a flexible, performance-based regulatory framework that addresses potential hazards instead of a classification defined primarily by weight and speed.” This basically means that instead of having to build drones within a specified boundary, your drone would be allowed to fly as long as it was safe against set hazards that have been defined.
Now that the FAA has pushed forward with allowing drones, it may not be long before our packages are flown directly to our backyards.
