Friday, Jan. 15

The track & field opened up its two-day invite at the Kentucky Invitational with senior thrower Marie Lumpkin throwing 16.41m in the weight throw, earning her a 23rd place finish overall. The rest of the team continued the competition on Jan. 16.

Men's volleyball took on the Harvard Crimson at Worthen Arena. After starting off with a 9-1 opening, the Cardinals dropped the first set 22-25. This would be the only loss of the night for the team, as it proceeded to win the remaining three sets behind junior outside attacker Brendan Surane's 20-kill performance. 

Saturday, Jan. 16

A rather busy day for Ball State, athletics held four athletic competitions throughout the course of the day.

The men's swim & dive team participated in its first conference meet of the season against Easter Michigan at Lewellen Aquatic Center. Junior Austin Green was able to finish with two individual event wins on the day, which included the 50 freestyle (21.54) and the 100 freestyle (47.20). However, the Cardinals would drop the meet to the Eagles 118-168. 

Women's basketball took on Bowling Green on the road in search for head coach Brady Sallee's 200th career win. After each member of the Cardinals lineup scored double-digits in terms of total points, the Cardinals topped the Falcons, 67-56.

Track & field finished its meet at the Kentucky Invitational in a field of 22 teams, which included Kentucky which ranked eighth in the nation. The Cardinals were able to come away with five career best performances and four top 20 performances. 

Women's tennis opened its season on the road against Purdue University. The Cardinals dropped the match with a 2-5 loss against the No. 44 ranked Boilermakers. Singles competition victories came from sophomore transfer Carmen Blanco and freshman Audrey Berger. 

Men's basketball took on Miami at home to wrap up the day of competition for Cardinal athletics. The Cardinals trailed at 16 points during the game, but came back with a last second shot from redshirt senior and Muncie native Jeremiah Davis with 1.8 seconds remaining. The Cardinals snuck away with a 48-46 victory advancing its season record to 12-5 and 3-1 in the Mid-American Conference.

Sunday, Jan. 17

Gymnastics competed in its first official meet at Worthen Arena, taking on Towson University. After strong individual performances in front of a crowd of 840, the Cardinals topped the Tigers 194.100-192.550 for the team's first victory of the season. 

The men's tennis team opened up its spring season at home against Eastern Illinois University. In its first match of the season, the Cardinals were able to come away with a 6-1 victory. The Cardinals took all three doubles competitions, as well as five out of the six singles competitions on its way to victory.
