Christening the upcoming release of Dark Souls III, Titan Comics has decided to add some depth to the universe of Dark Souls and offer comic books based on the world. The comic is set outside of the games and their specific lore, but still within the general framing of the universe of the games. This means that while the stories might not have been mentioned in the games, they will certainly add to the mythology of the Undead.

It hasn’t yet been revealed whether this will be a limited or long-term run of the comics, but the writer of the first comic is revealed to be none other than George Mann, previously known for his Doctor Who comics. The covers have two variants to them already drawn by other artists (Joshua Cassara and Marco Turini), but the primary artist is slated to be Alan Quah.

Although this isn’t the first Dark Souls comic that fans have seen, this is certainly a step in an expansive direction. It’s set to come out one week before the release of Dark Souls III, on April 6th of 2016.
