Impress the family this Winter Break by cooking up something special. We scoured the Internet and found five holiday recipes.

1. Cookies and cream bark

This simple, no-bake recipe could be a delicious family get-together treat or a gift for a friend.

Ingredients:

  • 24 oz. white chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup of Oreo cookie crumbs

Directions:

Cover a cookie sheet with foil and melt 12 ounces of white chocolate chips and add 1 tablespoon of shortening. Next, stir in ½ cup of the Oreo cookie crumbs. Scrape off the cream so the dessert won’t be too sweet. Now, add the rest of the chocolate and spread the mix onto the cookie sheet. Let it sit for two hours and then break it or cut it into pieces.

2. Holiday cake pops

Skip Starbucks and make homemade cake pops instead. But be warned — these snacks require some baking skills.

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1 tub of frosting
  • 1 package of almond bark/candy coating
  • Sprinkles
  • Lollipop sticks

Directions:

Bake the cake mix as it says on the box. Once it’s cooled off, crumble the cake mix into a large bowl. Now, stir in half of the frosting. Mix the frosting and cake mix with your hands until it is thick. Now, roll the cake together into 1-inch balls. Don’t add too much frosting — just enough to get the cake crumbs to stick together. Now, place the balls onto a cookie sheet and cover them with plastic wrap. Leave them in the fridge overnight. Next, melt the chocolate and dip lollipop sticks into the melted chocolate. Now, put the stick into the bottom center of the cake balls — a little more than halfway through. Now, dip the entire cake ball into the chocolate mixture and then put sprinkles on top. Keep the cake pops from messing up by getting a Styrofoam board, sticking the pops upright into them and letting them harden. Decorate them however you want.

3. Mini sausage wreaths

These are pigs-in-a-blanket with a holiday twist.

Ingredients:

  • Mini sausages
  • Crescent roll dough
  • Red bell pepper
  • Diced rosemary
  • Shredded cheese

Directions:

Open the crescent roll dough and cut into 1-inch strips. Wrap the mini sausages in the dough and arrange them into a circle on a cookie sheet. Bake them for 11-12 minutes or until done. Once cooled, sprinkle the “wreath” with shredded cheese and diced rosemary. Then, cut the red bell pepper into the shape of a bow.

4. Pretzel M&M kisses

This salty and sweet treat is sure to be a hit.

Ingredients:

  • 70 square pretzels
  • 70 Hershey’s Hugs Chocolates
  • 70 red and green M&Ms

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and cover a cookie sheet with Silpat or parchment paper. Then, line the pretzel squares on the cookie sheet and place one Hershey’s Hugs Chocolate on top of the pretzel. Bake the pretzels in the preheated oven for 4-5 minutes, or until the chocolate is soft. It should not melt completely. The chocolates should still hold their shape. Then, place one M&M into the center of the chocolate and gently press down. Place the treats in the refrigerator for about five minutes.
