'Outlast' sequel announced

A haunting, burning cross, seared into the darkness. A strange announcer proclaiming the eerie, disturbing righteousness of the word of God. These are the images shown in the trailer for Red Barrels Games’ newest game, a sequel to their popular Outlast. It’s hitting with all of its fury in Fall 2016 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

In an IGN interview with studio co-founder David Chateauneuf, he disclosed that, “We have even more surprises and I can’t wait to tell you all the ways we’re going to make Outlast 2 gamers suffer.”

The original game focused heavily on themes of insanity, taking place in an asylum. The main character was a journalist, digging to find out the truth behind the conditions of the committed patients. From the trailer we can guess that this next one will take place surrounding some sort of extremist religious cult. But fans will just have to wait for next fall to find out for sure.
