Most of the changes made were to clarify exactly what can and can’t be seen or withheld by Microsoft. The language used in the newest version of the statement is meant to imply that any and all withholding or viewing of personal information is done strictly to improve the customer’s services of the product that they are using.

Much of the changes were quite specific, citing that information such as location, contacts and application info on a person’s computer or phone was collected only to be put into prediction algorithms for ease of use. Many of these changes were also applied to Microsoft’s own personal helper, Cortana.
