The Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists recently announced that their vote for a strike in video game voice acting has been met with a "resounding success." They needed a vote of at least 75% to pass the strike and officially commence an organization-wide hiatus on work in the industry. They got a 96.52% positive vote in favor of the strike, highly increasing its possibility of happening in the near future.
After the Interactive Media Agreement Expired in December of last year, tense negotiations occurred between the representatives of the voice actors and the corporations who pay them. Blood was boiling on both sides, with neither party reaching an agreement during either of the sessions held in February and June of 2015. Until recently, the voice acting community postponed holding a strike. Because of this vote, the future of the strike looks progressive.
Standing by fellow actors and friends. #PerformanceMatters. If you'd like actors who work on videogames to be treated well, you should too.
