Nintendo made the announcement today that the beloved Pokémon mascot Pikachu will soon be a part of the Build-a-Bear family. As part of a new partnership between the two companies, Pikachu plushies will be available at Build-a-Bear stores as early as 2016.
The Pokémon Company International’s director of licensing, Monika Salazar, stated during the announcement, “Pokémon and Build-A-Bear Workshop both create memorable experiences for fans of all ages. We are delighted to partner with a brand like Build-A-Bear Workshop that represents fun and friendship.”
Each Pikachu will come with a limited edition Pokémon trading card, and there will also special Pokémon related accessories to customize the electric mouse, for an extra fee.
Those who may seem out of place at a Build-a-Bear can also order a Pikachu plush through the online store. The online option will come with a built-in sound chip, a Poké Ball themed hoodie, and a Charizard costume.
