Fans of the Defiance online multiplayer game don’t have to worry anymore. The game will continue exactly as before even though the Syfy Channel TV series has been cancelled.
The game is the intellectual property of developer Trion Worlds. CEO Scott Hartsman admitted, “The show has always been a fantastic and interesting partner, but the two were always meant to be able to stand on their own.”
Defiance was released in 2013, two weeks before its television counterpart. Both the game and TV show were set in the same universe. Each set of producers and writers included the same characters and themes. The goal was to create an immersive cross-media experience for players and viewers alike.
