Adobe Flash Player gets another security update

<p></p>

Adobe released an update for its Flash Player to fix an exploit that is being used in an espionage campaign dubbed “Operation Pawn Storm.” Later in the week, Trend Micro revealed that Adobe’s patch didn’t solve the issue at all and was a band-aid to the problem. This was later confirmed in a security bulletin by Adobe. Thus, Adobe has released another update.

According to the security bulletin, the exploit is being used in limited, targeted attacks. Trend Micro noted in a blog post that the Pawn Storm attacks appeared to be targeted at several foreign affairs ministries around the globe.

This is just one more mark on Flash Player’s list of exploits used by hackers to gain unauthorized access to computers. Many people are calling for the end of Flash Player, notably Facebook’s chief security officer Alex Stamon. Apple hasn’t supported Flash since 2010. Steve Jobs said that Flash caused poor performance, impacted battery life and had abysmal security.
