Tom Price, an assistant professor of journalism, was released from Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis after being treated for smoke inhalation, said Fletcher Price, Tom’s son.

Pam Price, Tom’s wife, is still in the hospital with no clear timeline for her release, but Fletcher said she is recovering well.

“The goal here is to get her strong enough so that she can go home,” he said.

Although Tom was released from the hospital, he hasn’t spent much time away, Fletcher said. Instead Tom has spent much of his time in the room with his wife.

“She just likes having him near, and he likes being with her,” Fletcher said.

The Price’s family home was completely consumed in a fire the night of May 29.

Since then, one student’s memories of her own house fire prompted her to start a fund that has raised $7,040 in five days to help the family.
