The National Weather Service has extended Delaware County's flash flood warning to 9 a.m. Saturday.

In what the National Weather Service is calling a "flash flood emergency," more than four inches of rain have fallen in the area. The National Weather Service has predicted an additional one to two inches may fall in the next several hours.

The National Weather Service also reports that flooding has occurred on many Muncie streets and at the Washington Street Bridge.

The service recommends drivers avoid flooded areas.

Muncie Mayor Dennis Tyler tweeted that sandbags are available and the fire department water rescue crews are ready if emergency assistance is needed.

"Entire city flood emergency! Please don't go out to travel except emergency," Tyler tweeted.
