The Ball State softball team scored five runs in the first inning on they way to its most dominant win of the weekend, a 14-2 six-inning victory over Lipscomb on Feb. 8.
The Cardinals finished the Belmont/Lipscomb Music City Classic with a 3-1 record overall.
Junior Sami Cowger blasted a two-out grand slam in the first inning to give Ball State the lead. The team recorded a season-high 13 hits.
Catcher Jessica Craft led the team with three hits to go along with two RBIs. Senior Loren Cihlar and junior Selena Reyna had two hits apiece as well.
On the mound, junior Nicole Steinbach pitched a complete game for the Cardinals, allowing two earned runs and seven hits. She struck out six batters while walking one.
Ball State returns to action on Feb. 13 as it travels to Auburn, Ala. for the Tiger Invitational.
