The Ball State men's basketball team lost its 10th straight game, falling to visiting Bowling Green 79-65 on Saturday at Worthen Arena.

Coming into the game, Ball State was last in the Mid-American Conference while Bowling Green was first.

The first few minutes was all Bowling Green, as they jumped out to a 10-3 lead.

After a few quick threes from Ball State and a four-point play by Bowling Green, the Cardinals cut the lead to 14-13 with 11:30 remaining in the half.

The first eight-and-a-half minutes looked like it would be a competitive matchup between the two, but this was the closest that Ball State would get all game.

Ball State would go into halftime trailing Bowling Green 36-25.

The first few minutes of the second half, Ball State and Bowling Green swapped buckets back and forth, but Ball State wasn't able to keep the pace.

Ball State shot 53.5 percent from the field in the game and 50 percent from behind the arc, but failed to take care of the ball, resulting in 16 turnovers.

“The stat of the game is obviously turnovers," head coach James Whitford said. "We turned the ball over 16 times - to their credit they turned it over only five."

After clawing back to make it 51-38 with 14:14 remaining in the game, Bowling Green went on a 12-2 run to seal the game.

Ball State allowed 24 points in the paint, an area where they struggled without starting center Matt Kamieniecki.

Whitford said that Kamieniecki was healthy enough to play, but they did not want to rush him back into things until he was back to 100 percent.

Five Cardinals scored in double-figures in the game, led by freshman Francis Kiapway with 16. Sophomore Zavier Turner added 12, while junior Bo Calhoun had 11.

Calhoun led the team with nine rebounds also.

Ball State will look to snap its 10-game losing streak on Feb. 18 against Kent State.
