MEN'S SWIM & DIVE: Cardinals finish behind Jaguars, Musketeers

The Ball State men’s swimming and dive team competed at a co-ed double-dual meet in Indianapolis Friday night, falling to Xavier 103-185 and losing to IUPUI, 85-215.

The Cardinals recorded 12 top-five finishes.

Sophomore Tanner Barton took first in the individual 200 butterfly swimming a time of 1:56.19, while sophomores Bradley Ridge and Jacob Eckert finished with times of 1:58.56 and 2:01.30. Barton also placed second in the 100 fly with a time of 52.65.

Also contributing was senior Andrew Sullenbarger, placing third in the 200 backsroke at 1:57.68, fifth in the 100 backstroke at 54.38 and fifth in the 200 medley relay alongside Ridge, Cole Smith, and Zach Toman.

Smith also took fourth place in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 47.95, while placing fifth in four other events.

Ridge also contributed to the Cardinal’s top-five finishes by placing fourth in the 100 fly at 53.49.

The men’s swimming and dive team hosts Evansville at the Lewellen Aquatic Center at 2 p.m. on Jan. 17.
