Cardinals finish fifth at Illini Classic

The Ball State track & field team finished fifth at the Illini Classic Saturday at the UI Armory.

Host Illinois won the 10-team event with 145 points. Ball State finished with 44 points.

Senior Hannah Ciasto-Poor finished third in the pole vault, clearing 3.75m. Her performance topped the previous school record in the indoor pole vault, which was 3.65m set in 2008.

Ball State had eight athletes finish with career-best efforts, as well as six top five finishes.

The Ball State indoor track & field will return to action Jan. 23 when it travels to compete in the Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana University.
