Courtney Edon took first place at the Ball State Invitational at the Muncie Elks Country Club with a time of 18.31.1. Being a senior, today was Edon’s last time competing on her home course.
Edon led her team for the fifth consecutive meet, while her twin sister Caitlynn Edon followed close behind. Caitlynn Edon clocked in at 19:10.0 to take seventh place overall.
Freshman Sarah Hoppes was the third runner to place for the Cardinals, running a time of 19:43.3 to take 11th place. Freshmen Jessica Bryzek and Rachel Billingsley also scored for the Cardinals, placing 17th and 19th overall.
The Miami Redhawks finished first place overall scoring 20 points as their five scored runners placed second through sixth. The Cardinals took second place with 41 points.
Ball State is now directing its focus to the 2014 Mid-American Conference Championship on Nov. 1. Hosted by Central Michigan, the meet will be at the Riverwood Resort Golf Course in Mount Pleasant, Mich. The 6K championship race has a start time of 11 a.m.
