The Ball State women’s volleyball team earned a weekend sweep at Worthen Arena after a 3-1 victory over Central Michigan on Oct. 4.

The Cardinals are now 9-8 on the season, with a 3-1 Mid-American Conference record.

For the second straight match, defense led the way for Ball State. The Cardinals held the Chippewas to 48 kills on a .159 attack percentage.

Eight blocks were key for the Cardinals in the match. Redshirt junior Kelly Hopkins had one solo block and four assists.

Two different Ball State players had double-digit digs. Libero Kati Vasalakis led the way with 19, while redshirt junior Alex Fuelling had 15.

Hayley Benson and Hopkins led the offense again, earning 29 total kills. The pair combined to hit .426 overall.

Redshirt freshman Sabrina Mangapora added nine kills, while Mackenzie Kitchel had seven.

As a team, the Cardinals had 55 kills with an overall attack percentage of .242.

Ball State returns to the court at 7 p.m. Oct. 9, with another MAC matchup against Toledo.
