Senior McCormick Clouser captured his first collegiate tournament win Sept. 30, as the Ball State men’s golf team placed second at the Fighting Irish Classic.

After opening the tournament on Sept. 28 shooting a career-best round of 66, Clouser finished play on Tuesday with an even-par 71.

“My first round kind of carried me through the tournament,” Clouser said in a statement. “I played really well in that round, and then yesterday I managed to post a good number even though I didn’t putt as well. Today was a tougher day, and I played pretty solid the whole day. I didn’t make a ton of big mistakes.”

A native of Bluffton, Ind., Clouser finished play two strokes better than host school Notre Dame’s Cory Sciupider.

The team returns to action on Oct. 6 , traveling to Akron, Ohio, to compete in the Firestone Invitational.
