The Ball State men's tennis team finished tournament play at the 36th annual Ball State Fall Invitational Sunday at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
For the Flight A bracket final match, senior Patrick Elliott fell to Zach Berry of Dayton, 6-4, 6-3.
Ball State teammates senior Ray Leonard and sophomore Patrick Downs went head to head in the Flight A consolation match. Downs won in three sets, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3.
Freshman Collin Rigney went up against Christian Gonzales of Chicago State in the Flight B championship, but lost in three sets, 1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
Freshman Jan Jirus was the only Cardinal to win in the final round for singles competition. Jirus defeated Dayton's Graham Reinbold 6-3, 6-3, in the Flight C consolation bracket.
In doubles action, sophomore Lucas Andersen paired up with Elliott to win the Flight A doubles final over IUPUI's Gerard Guell and Martin Muadi, 8-4.
The Ball State men's tennis team returns to action Oct. 16 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Nashville, Tenn.

The Cardinals will face the No. 1 Miami Redhawks. If Ball State was to win, a second game will need to be played due to the Redhawks undefeated tournament record.
