The Ball State men’s basketball team fell to Western Michigan 81-88 tonight.

The loss moved Ball State’s record to 4-22 overall and 1-14 in Mid-American Conference play.

Despite a strong edge in shooting percentage and a 42-40 rebounding advantage, Ball State was unable to maintain the 9-point lead it captured in the first half.

The Broncos capitalized on 16 Cardinal turnovers and eventually fought back to tie the game and force overtime. Ball State was outscored 6-13 in the extra time.

Four Cardinals finished in double figures. Freshman guard Zavier Turner led the team with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting. He contributed five assists to Ball State’s team total of 21.

Senior guard Chris Bond recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds despite shooting 4-for-13 from the floor.

Ball State will return to action Saturday in a home game against Central Michigan.
