Reports say Notre Dame assistant to become Connecticut coach

Another potential landing spot for Ball State head coach Pete Lembo was filled Wednesday night.

Multiple reports confirmed Notre Dame defensive coordinator Bob Diaco will be the new head coach at Connecticut on a five-year contract.

When reports first surfaced that UConn had hired a new coach, there was speculation that Lembo was to be named. Several minutes later, it was confirmed Lembo was not heading to Storrs, Conn., to coach the Huskies.

UConn is the second school that spoke to Lembo to hire a different coach. Wake Forest named former Bowling Green head coach Dave Clawson its coach Monday.
