Ball State football head coach Pete Lembo is on the road recruiting, but some are speculating he is interviewing for a coaching vacancy.

Pete Roussel of coachingsearch.com reported Lembo was set to interview with Connecticut athletics director Warde Manuel in Atlanta today about the job.

The Daily News confirmed Lembo isn’t in Muncie, but could not confirm where exactly he is. Lembo has recruited in Georgia in the past, as four players on Ball State’s roster are from the state.

UConn fired former coach Paul Pasqualoni after a 0-4 start to the 2013 season and named T.J. Weist as the interim. The Huskies finished the season 3-9 after winning the team’s final three games.

Pasqualoni earned a base salary of $1.6 million. Lembo’s salary at Ball State is $396,000.

Last week, Lembo was thought to have met with Wake Forest athletic director Ron Wellman because Wellman came Muncie.

The Cardinals went 10-2 in Lembo’s third season with the school, earning a trip to the GoDaddy Bowl against Arkansas State on Jan. 5 in Mobile, Ala. The bowl game is the second straight season Ball State will play in a bowl game.
