University to release new campus security report

The Office of Student Rights and Community Standards will be releasing their Campus Safety Report for 2
013 today. 

According to the 2012 report, a total of 14 sexual offenses were reported on or near campus in 2011. Of those, 13 were on campus.

In 2009, only three instances were reported, two of which were on campus.

The report, which is released annually, covers arrests, disciplinary referrals and criminal offense reports for campus crimes and hate crimes on Main Campus and the Indianapolis Center.

The 2012 report included statistics from 2009 through 2011. It also includes different university policies related to crime.

The report states in two years, the number of liquor law arrests rose by 105 violations on campus and 63 violations off campus. The number of disciplinary referrals rose to about 587 both on and off campus, an increase of 137 instances from 2009 to 2011.

The number of reported burglaries on campus nearly doubled in 2011 from two years before, from 16 to 31.
