The climbing wall in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center will get a frightening makeover Wednesday.

From 7-10 p.m. Tuesday at the climbing wall, Outdoor Pursuits will host its fourth annual “Heights and Frights” Halloween party.

Students will be able to showcase their Halloween costumes while rock climbing on a black light lit climbing wall.

“The event is a way to get more students involved in events at the rec center, show them what Outdoor Pursuits is about and have fun for Halloween,” said Kirsten King, a graduate assistant for Outdoor Pursuits.

The event, including rock climbing, is free to all students.

The event will have door prizes. A competition for an individual and a group with the best Halloween costume will take place with prizes including gift cards from restaurants, including Casa Del Sol and Pita Pit.

Masks are not welcome at the event, as well as skirts and dresses, unless the student is wearing shorts or pants underneath, according to the press release.

King encouraged students to take advantage of the event.

“This is not something we normally do every week or even every month,” King said. “It’s a good opportunity to dress up and for students to do something they don’t usually do.”
