Until 2 p.m. on Friday, students had the opportunity to support a fundraiser and soak a University Police Department officer.

UPD’s second-shift workers set up a dunk tank to benefit the Special Olympics. Students could pay $1 for three balls in hopes of dunking an officer or $5 for a guaranteed dunk.

“In the winter time, we do the Polar Plunge but we wanted to do something earlier, too,” 1st Sgt. Rhonda Clark said. “We thought it would be fun for us to just get out here and do something.”

Ben Hensel, a junior architecture major, said he paid to dunk a policeman because he wanted to support the Special Olympics and UPD.

“It is a great opportunity [and] lots of fun,” he said. “[Students should] get out here and help out a good cause.”
