WOMEN'S TENNIS: Cardinals win Friday doubleheader

Ball State beats Dayton, Wright State by combined 12-2 score

The Ball State women’s tennis team beat Dayton and Wright State in the doubleheader matches Friday. Coach Christine Bader and her team have improved to a 5-1 record, the team’s best start in five years.

In the morning match, Ball State swept Wright State with a 7-0 victory.

The Courtney tandem; Courtney Earnest and Courtney Wild played at No. 1 doubles for Ball State finishing with an 8-0 win.

In the evening match, Ball State beat Dayton 5-2.

Against the Flyers, Earnest had no contest in the two-set win over Maureen Stevens at the No. 3 singles spot.

The team was able to stay on top throughout all of the singles matches by successfully winning in six straight sets.

Ball State will take on Butler Thursday at 2 p.m in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.

Bader was unavailable for comment after both matches.
