GYMNASTICS: Ball State sweeps Penn, Centenary

Team score of 193.800 enough to get two wins

The Ball State gymnastics team won their third consecutive meet Friday,  with victories over Penn and Centenary the Cardinals are now 4-2 on the season.

Ball State posted a team score of 193.800. Penn took second with a 189.625, edging out Centenary’s score of 187.550. The team was able to post big team scores on vault and the floor exercise.

Brooke Evans led the team on vault, and placed first overall with a score of 9.825. Ball State took the top six spots, en route to a team score of 48.825.

The team posted a 48.650 on the floor exercise, led by freshman Denasiha Christian’s score of 9.850.

Despite lower team scores of 48.200 and 48.125 on the bars and beam, respectively, a Ball State gymnast still took first place in both events. Senior Brittney Emmons finished first on the bars with a score of 9.850. Sam Santos posted a 9.800 on the beam, giving Ball State a first place finisher in every event.

Emmons took first in the all-around as well, with her score of 38.975.

The Cardinals continue play in the Mid-American Conference next Saturday, Feb. 9, against the Eastern Michigan.
